The Cited

About

The Cited is an independent editorial publication on Generative Engine Optimization (GEO).

We exist because the discipline of GEO is, at present, dominated by guesswork — vendor marketing repackaged as analysis, anecdotes presented as evidence, and breathless predictions about "the future of search" with no underlying data.

Our mandate is simple: every article we publish must be backed by primary research, reproducible methodology, or first-hand technical analysis. If we don't have the data, we don't write the article.

What we publish

Articles fall into seven pillars: Foundations, Technical, Content Engineering, Measurement & Analytics, Brand & Behavior, Case Studies, and Pulse. Each pillar has a dedicated hub at our home.

Editorial principles

  1. Primary research over rerites.
  2. Methodology in the open. Every claim has a dataset.
  3. Reproducibility. You can repeat our experiments.
  4. No fluff, no clickbait. Signal-to-noise above all.
  5. Editorial independence. Affiliate and sponsor relationships disclosed.
  6. Update timestamps. Every article reviewed every 90 days.
  7. Bias for action. Every article ends with what to do next.
